The goal of Yelp’s Ads team is to create a thriving, valuable marketplace between customers and a business. The team tackles challenging, multidisciplinary problems at scale in areas like machine learning, data structures and algorithms, optimization, statistics, and distributed systems.
As an applied scientist in the Ads division, you will be a part of a group that focuses on control systems, experimentation, pricing, and auction bidding strategies. Applied scientists use exploratory research and analysis to find these insights, and they then develop the ideas into production-level statistical or predictive models. Although it requires work to make sense of the data, carefully consider the system design, and identify various network interactions, the business of Yelp will greatly benefit from these insights.

You’ll do the following.

Create testable hypotheses, assume responsibility for complex issues, and have a significant positive impact on business.
Lead the development of causal and predictive models or the design and analysis of experiments to test your theories.
Modify production procedures with the help of engineering and product, and provide information to other teams.
Your conclusions should be heard by both technical and non-technical audiences.
You can keep the team and our projects up-to-date on the newest developments in ML and statistics by reading papers, attending conferences, and taking part in local events.
Create production-ready model pipelines within Python services.

To succeed, the following is needed:.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
a degree in a quantitative subject, such as physics, applied mathematics, computer science, statistics, economics, etc.

understanding of machine learning-based forecasting, predictive modeling, or causal inference.
