Our engineering team designs, builds and operates the core systems that help Yelp developers deliver world-class service. We are passionate about optimizing the engineering process and providing unique development experiences while developing robust, highly reliable systems. As the Lead Engineer for Yelp’s JVM team, you will lead, manage, and develop a team of engineers skilled in building infrastructure to enhance and improve the Java developer experience. Your team will develop production tools and libraries, and help establish best practices to help authors write high-quality, high-performance code in Java, Scala, and Kotlin. These frameworks will allow developers to work with many of our critical systems that enable Search, Advertising, ML, Data Infra and Android products.

Help the team be more productive by removing roadblocks and improving team processes.
Engineers and teachers of all levels, from recent graduates to advanced engineers. Work with your team, your team and other engineering leaders to define and influence the product vision and roadmap.
Play important roles in the hiring process, from finding and interviewing potential candidates to recruiting new employees. Help your team with multiple resources to meet needs while maintaining focus and confidence.What it takes to be successful:

Previous experience as a manager with a “person-first” approach; maintaining a strong team culture is your priority and guided by compassion. Excellent communication skills that you also promote within your own team.
Experience building JVM systems written in Java, Scala, or Kotlin. Technical training that can help your team measure business during design and development.
