•  A growing division of Wayfair, the Physical Retail team is in charge of providing technological solutions to support the Physical Retail experience, including applications and experiences on the sales floor targeted at customers and associates. We need skilled engineers to give our customers, who still favor making purchases while curled up on their couches, a first-rate online experience. This team is in charge of producing Android and Web applications to support operations for visual merchandise and inventory management in physical retail stores. As a member of this team, you will have a significant impact on how our technological and commercial capabilities develop, advance your professional development, and uncover significant opportunities to make a difference.

 What You’ll Do.

•  You will be in charge of guiding technical roadmaps, design, and implementation within highly ambiguous problem spaces as a Senior Engineer and technical leader.
•  You will be in charge of directing a high-performing group of six talented engineers who will support the operations of both new and existing stores.
•  Bring ideas to the table and take the initiative while balancing various technical trade-offs like delivery time, maintainability, system performance, and others.
•  Drive practical development, including conception, design, execution, and delivery, adhering to best practices in both design and coding.
•  Mentor new hires and other engineers to help them advance through teaching, leading by example, tech talks, paired programming, and other techniques to increase technical efficiency throughout the company.

 You will need.

•  an in-depth knowledge of the full stack and lifecycle of a modern programming language (such as Java, JavaScript, React, or Kotlin).
•  a desire to manage difficult, cross-cutting technical projects and establish yourself as a respected authority.
•  deep expertise in gathering requirements from business stakeholders to determine software requirements in high ambiguity situations.
•  a willingness to work together and join forces with other teams in order to achieve the best outcome for the client.
•  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
•  able to design large-scale systems, manage relational databases, and create integrations for both internal and external partners. educated in effective problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting techniques.
•  8+ years of experience creating distributed and web-based systems, as well as 5+ years as a team/technical lead.
•  using Docker and Kubernetes in decoupled systems for at least two years.
•  Experience in physical retail is preferred but not required.

 Location.

•  Remote – preferable Eastern and Central time zones.
•  The salary range for this position is $155,250 to $171,000; however, the base pay offered may differ depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive package of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, the compensation package for the position may also include restricted stock units.
