Full Job Description
Overview.
The MSRC team at Microsoft is looking for a SOC analyst to join its SOC in the UK (Cheltenham). The main responsibility is to carry out investigations, including digital forensics and data analytics, in response to security alerts. Your eagerness to devise original solutions to security problems will become apparent as you gather data and build a picture of what transpired during your investigations. You will be in charge of combining data from various sources to determine how a security incident occurred and what needs to be done to fix it. You will also be in charge of developing tools that close knowledge gaps, strengthen our cloud defenses, and shield clients from fresh security threats. The dynamic SOC team consistently offers new opportunities for learning and growth. This position may involve on-call responsibilities and working on urgent investigations after regular business hours.

Qualifications.
- a degree in a relevant subject, such as computer science or cyber security.
The advantages would consist of:.
- All of the following, including SANs GSEC, GCIH, CompTia Security +, BlueTeam Level 1, etc.
- possessing management abilities for security incidents involving privacy (GDPR).
- experience from prior work in digital forensics and incident response (DFIR).
The ability to pass Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is necessary for this position. The requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position must pass the Microsoft Cloud background check prior to hire or transfer, and then every two years after that.
Responsibilities.
- To confirm security incidents, triage should be used to rank alerts and issues in order of importance.
- To determine the effect and the cause, analyze true positive alerts.
- Develop and possibly implement plans for incident mitigation and remediation in collaboration with teams.
- Examine security risks and their impact on the Microsoft Cloud platform and its online services.
- Create technical standards for use by teams and other analysts.
- In times of national emergency, lend your support.
Working Conditions:.
- In the UK, winter hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (GMT) from November to April.
- UK Summer Hours are from 10:30 am to 7 pm (BST), from April through November.
- It will be necessary to put in extra hours on the weekends and on holidays, but pay will be provided in exchange.
