 How do you envision yourself performing well in this role?

This position is very important to the Global Rewards Center of Excellence and reports directly to the Director Controller. As part of the larger team, this position will work closely to deliver crucial reporting and analytics for the US and international rewards programs. The selected candidate will support the transformation of finance technology (e.g., by acting as a consultant on finance, accounting, and control procedures for significant business-driven reward initiatives). g. g. , R42, FALCON, and FLARE) in carrying out the roadmap for finance data governance.

The successful applicant should be familiar with American Express’ financial systems, operational and technical accounting, internal controls, and general business acumen in addition to having excellent interpersonal skills.

 RESPONSIBILITIES.

 Included in the job’s responsibilities are:

  •  Supporting Rewards’ monthly accounting and reporting activities, making sure the financial results are accurate, and encouraging innovation and change are all crucial duties.
  •  Supporting the updating of the Rewards platform (R42); collaborating with tech teams to assess and develop specifications to make sure a smooth, controlled transition to the new platform.
  •  assisting with projects and business endeavors to make sure that requirements and considerations for financial and control are taken into account.
  •  connecting to crucial reporting systems and communicating with tech organizations.
  •  To encourage automation and efficiency, close communication is maintained with all Company divisions involved in the Rewards process.
  •  support for maintaining a stable control environment for E2E Rewards.
  •  supporting and assisting with requests for both internal and external audits.

 ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Self-starter with the capacity to lead and influence without the official position of authority. Results-oriented.
  •  high levels of communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  being able to balance long- and short-term effects while working under high pressure and meeting difficult deadlines.
  •  Strong collaborator, able to work across the Enterprise to drive results while understanding and incorporating different points of view.
  •  excellent business judgment and internal control knowledge.
  •  proven analytical skills; preference is given to applicants with rewards or loyalty industry experience.
  •  A CA/CPA/MBA is a plus with a degree in accounting or finance and 3+ years of work experience in controllership, accounting, or finance.
