  • Our company’s motto is “Make the World a Better Place,” and we strive to uphold it by making games. Spry Fox employees are born innovators. Whether it be by developing MMOs that promote friendships and discourage toxic behavior or by developing original puzzle games that promote English language learning, we are constantly asking ourselves, “How does this game improve your life?”.
  •  Spry Fox understands crunch as a negative, counterproductive industry practice — something to be learned from and avoided in the future — and strives to be a studio that is enjoyable to work for and an important but not dominating part of your life. We want you to have a family, friends, interests, and a life outside of work. You should value your coworkers and have faith in their unwavering support. Our goal is for you to be proud of who you are and what you do.
  •  For at least ten years, we’ve been living completely off the grid with Foxes dispersed all over the world. Our schedules are flexible and entirely up to us as individuals, but we all try to be online and in communication from 10am to 2pm PST to ensure we have enough overlapping work hours with our team.
  •  We’ve always been focused on making thoughtful, original games, but now more than ever, thanks to being a part of Netflix, we can do what we love with more support and without having to worry about how to monetize. “.
 The actual job.
  •  Spry Fox is seeking a Senior Graphics Engineer to assist us in developing a unique, non-violent MMO.
  •  As a Senior Graphics Engineer, you will direct our effort to deliver a fluid experience of our stylized, comfortable world on mobile and desktop platforms.
  •  You’ll be doing hands-on work to profile and optimize materials and scene organization, set up our project for GPU, CPU, and memory scalability across our target platforms, and investigate rendering techniques to amplify the mood of our game (coziness, whimsy, moments of awe).
  •  You will be the go-to authority for rendering optimization and improving the work of our art team. Along with the other members of the engineering team, you will decide on the technical restrictions, asset standards, and asset pipeline additions necessary to deliver a consistent player experience across platforms.
  •  You and the art team will research and evaluate trade-offs relating to performance traits and our visual target jointly. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to contribute to any other area of the project that interests you because we’re a small team working on a big game.
 REQUIREMENTS.
  •  For a 3D game that used low-end hardware when it was first released (e. g. iOS and Android).
  •  to feel comfortable conducting independent research to pinpoint potential performance obstacles and look into ways to improve the game’s visual appeal.
  •  If you are good at communicating, you can work well in a remote team setting.
  •  a strong sense of empathy that makes it possible for you to relate to our customers, communicate across disciplines, and handle conflict maturely.
  •  powerful C++ coding and debugging abilities.
 VERY NICE TO HAVE.
  •  You were responsible for performance optimization for an finished Unreal game.
  •  a desire to research stylized art and develop fresh ways to achieve our visual goal (and beyond).
  •  possessing knowledge of or interest in any other part of the many parts necessary to build an ambitious MMO.
  •  familiarity with graphics debuggers, e. g. Use (RenderDoc, Xcode, PIX, Nsight) to find bottlenecks.
  •  In order to fulfill project-specific goals, Unreal has been expanded.
