DESCRIPTION.

 A control systems engineer.

  •  Reliability, Maintenance and Engineering (RME) is in need of control systems engineers.

  •  a proactive automation controls and technical support role for fulfillment center operations, with a focus on increasing equipment reliability and operational performance of equipment like conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA devices and programs.
 Responsibilities include the following, among others.
  • Arrange and schedule the tasks of the Control Systems Techs/Leads to meet the aims and targets of the North American Customer Fulfillment teams.
  • Work closely with building Operations, Operations Engineering, FC Start up Team, AFT Software teams, ACES team, and Safety to support MHE systems optimization and project implementation.
  • Be familiar with, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, PLC/PC controllers, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus industrial networks, as well as controls for motors, servos, and other drives.
  • Track MHE metrics, work with operations and maintenance on system performance issues, and offer analysis for all operations.
  • Serve as first level escalation support for the Control Systems Techs/Leads during regular business hours and after hours, troubleshooting locally and remotely and fixing any hardware or controls software systems in the building.
  • Properly notify suppliers or corporate offices of equipment failures so they can offer assistance in resuming normal operations.
  • Advising Control System Leads (CSL) and Control System Technicians (CST) in the building you have been given.
  • Assist with the Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes, and put process upgrades or retraining in place to stop recurrent incidents.
  • Make better use of building systems by applying your subject-matter expertise in electronic and material handling systems.
  • Perform system analyses to assess the effectiveness of material handling systems.
  • Work together to plan and organize the installation of new technology with other building operations leadership, equipment suppliers, and parts manufacturers. Participate in capital projects inside the building as the technical consultant.
  • Take advantage of the resources in your network to assist you when you require guidance or support, and when appropriate, assist your peers.
  • Communicate any technical issues and project schedules to the maintenance team, building leadership, and operations. Define the effects of production.
  • Assist building maintenance teams in evaluating the technical job candidates’ qualifications.
  • Take care of a flexible workload that may come from management or other operations.
  • Participate in AE conference calls and work with the AE central team to finish all necessary tasks.
  • Reporting to the AE central team on a weekly basis the site controls’ reliability.
  • Pre-launch travel requirements of at least 50% for a variety of building launch and training tasks.
 Essential job duties.

Among other things, responsibilities include the following.

  • Plan and coordinate work activities for the Control Systems Techs and Leads to achieve the goals and objectives of the North American Customer Fulfillment teams.
  • Assist building operations, operations engineering, the FC Start up Team, the AFT Software teams, the ACES team, and safety in implementing projects and optimizing MHE systems.
  • Be familiar with, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, PLC/PC controllers, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus industrial networks, as well as systems for controlling motors, servos, and other types of drives.
  • Keep an eye on MHE metrics, collaborate with maintenance and operations on any problems with system performance, and offer analysis for all operations.
  • During regular business hours and after hours, serve as first level escalation support for the Control Systems Techs/Leads, troubleshooting locally and remotely, and repairing any hardware or controls software systems in the building.
  • Properly notify vendors or corporate headquarters of downtime situations to request assistance in resuming equipment operation.
  • Coaching Control System Leads (CSL) and Control System Technicians (CST) in the building you’ve been given.
  • Provide the AE central team with weekly information on the dependability of site controls.
  • Pre-launch travel requirements of at least 50% for a variety of building launch and training tasks.
 BASIC REQUIREMENTS.

 Fundamental qualifications.

  • A four-year degree or at least two years of experience working for Amazon.
 Preferred credentials.

 Preferred Requirements.

  • Knowledge of automated machinery, robotics, controls, and electrical theory.
  • Working knowledge of HMI and control network components, including their identification, upkeep, troubleshooting, programming, and design.
  • Proven ability to recognize, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify motor controls, including motor starters, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and common electrical components.
  • Troubleshooting and practical experience with industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.

Experience identifying, maintaining, and utilizing SCADA systems and KPIs. Experience interpreting, modifying, and developing mechanical and electrical drawings.

  • Experience using programming tools like RSLogix5000 studio, FT View, and other control software platforms.
  • Knowledge of the robotic work cells’ control mechanisms.
  • The capacity to interact with all levels of management while leading others in a technical role. ability to reason, analyze problems, and solve them.
  • The capacity to coach individuals with less experience.
  • The capacity to comprehend, interpret, and relate policies and procedures to others. design or coding expertise in systems controls.
  • Knowledge of system integration.
  • Experience as a systems trainer or in the field of field service engineering.

Excellent written, verbal, and customer service skills. Experience supporting a wide variety of different conveyors and sortation systems.

  • Track record of providing technical phone support remotely.
