The Credit Risk Review, Model Risk Management, and Risk Capabilities (CMRC) division of American Express is where this position is located.

The applicant will be responsible for supporting the CMRC team with the aforementioned tasks pertaining to its strategic initiatives, AI/ML, and model risk governance.

  •  support a range of strategic initiatives, i. e. take part in projects that focus on risk management and strategy and are high-impact, short- to medium-term. Each engagement is unique and may include tasks like conducting market research, developing a new framework for risk management for AI/ML applications and quantitative tools and non-model tools, and conducting model / non model risk due diligence (acquisitions / vendor), among others.
  •  Establish, maintain, and put into practice an organization-wide governance framework, policies, and procedures for AI/ML and model risk management (MRM), which may or may not include:.
  •  Over the course of the entire organization, maintain control over the escalation of RAF and MRM status issues to senior executives and the company board.
  •  The MRM policies and procedures across the entire organization should be maintained, reviewed, and tested on a monthly basis.
  •  Assist the team in managing interactions and tests with the U. S. internal audit teams and the authorities overseeing the financial sector should make sure that any unresolved issues are dealt with right away.
  •  Assist the team in submitting the aggregate model risk assessment report to senior management and regulatory agencies.
  •  As a product owner, you are in charge of the framework for the company’s enterprise-wide MRM capabilities. You are responsible for enhancing processes, enforcing tighter controls, and boosting productivity.

The employee will have the opportunity to interact directly with senior leaders within GRC and across the entire company because of the fast-paced nature and high impact of the work.

Essential Prerequisites.

 Skills:.

  •  able to demonstrate a strong grasp of risk and financial management.
  •  Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities; able to succinctly and clearly interpret technical documents, regulatory guidelines, and complex project requirements for various stakeholders.
  •  exceptional multitasking and project management skills.
  •  exceptional at creating consulting-style presentations and crafting knowledgeable technical documents.
  •  Excellent teamwork skills with colleagues and stakeholders from AXP offices around the world.
  •  Excel and PowerPoint skills that are strong; knowledge of SQL, R, Python, or SAS is a plus.
  •  fundamental expertise with AI/ML applications.
  •  extreme care in the details.
  •  a self-starter with a cheerful disposition.
  •  A plus is having experience with big projects or consulting.
 Required education.
  •  a bachelor’s degree in management or science (economics, finance, statistics, decision science, or a closely related field).
  •  a social science master’s degree. and Ph. D., with an MBA preferred (in statistics, finance, decision science, economics, or a field closely related to these fields).
  •  It is preferable to have knowledge of financial analysis, multivariate analysis, and statistical/econometric modeling.

Salary range: $80,000 to $155,000 annually, plus bonuses and benefits.
