The Prospect.

For our growing slate of Netflix Franchise Series and UK-produced Films, we are seeking a highly qualified Manager, Visual Effects. The potential applicant needs to be well-known and established in the VFX sector. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with clients in production and will have held significant positions with one or more vendors. The ability to manage relationships with VFX vendors and crew members, review and contribute to budgets and schedules from pitches, treatments, and scripts, assess and comment on work creatively, and support our production partners and filmmakers are essential to the role. You will be expected to excel at communication across functional boundaries for Netflix in addition to being a champion for visual effects.

The specific duties and skill sets that need to be taken into account include the following, to name just a few examples.

collaborating with the production teams, finance, and creative executives of our studio during development and pre-production. planning the production and post-production, budgeting for VFX, and script analysis. offering suggestions and criticism on the viability and scope of the VFX project.
creating the visual effects team for our productions through the selection of Vendors, the hiring of VFX Producers and Supervisors, and negotiations with agents. maintaining budget restrictions and corporate policies by supervising contract negotiations and seeking legal advice.
Monitor the VFX delivery status and cost report. collaborating closely with the VFX Producers to anticipate and resolve any issues with the budget and schedule. Make sure the production is productive, that deadlines are honored, and that expenses are controlled.
Work with the show’s VFX producers to establish and maintain a weekly reporting system that will provide a brief summary of the budget, schedule, and VFX development each week.
reviewing VFX finals and working with the VFX Producer and VFX Supervisor to make sure that only top-notch work is produced.
examining new businesses and establishing contacts with them. keeping track of talent availability.
technical proficiency in the production of visual effects, including familiarity with cutting-edge technologies and 4K pipelines.
familiarity with tax credits and rebates.
an enthusiasm for the creative process!
