You’ll work with a team of applied scientists in the Ads division who are knowledgeable about experimentation, command and control systems, pricing, and auction bidding strategies. Through exploratory research and analysis, applied scientists find these insights, and they later develop the concepts into robust statistical or predictive models. Even though it takes a lot of effort to interpret the data, carefully evaluate the system architecture, and pinpoint different network interactions, these realizations have a significant positive impact on Yelp’s operations.

Identify difficult problems, take ownership of them, develop testable hypothese, and have a significant impact on the business.
Plan the creation of causal and predictive models or the design, execution, and analysis of experiments to test your hypotheses.
Change the production processes together with the product and engineering teams, and inform other teams.

By reading papers, going to conferences, and participating in local events, you can keep the team and our projects up to date on the most recent advancements in ML and statistics.
The model pipelines of Python services should be automated and productionized.

You must have the following in order to succeed.

A bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience is necessary.
a degree in a quantitative subject, like physics, computer science, statistics, econometrics, applied math, etc.
Knowledge of statistical and data analysis programs (such as R, Python’s pandas, statisticsmodels, and Sklearn) is a plus. ).
understanding of machine learning methods for causal inference, predictive modeling, or forecasting.
a passion for writing clear, elegant code; proficiency is not necessary, but it is a plus, and we expect you to learn as you go.
a track record of success in applied research, the desire to find new problems that might be solved, and the perseverance to see your ideas through.
the desire to become an authority on a specific product or industry and to comprehend how to link tasks involving abstract modeling and analysis to tasks that have a business value.
