Corrections Division

Starting pay is $18.99 per hour with three shifts that provide 24-hour coverage for the Correctional Facility. Corrections Officers ensure a high- quality correctional facility by providing for the care, custody and control of inmates with supervision in their living areas and ensuring that inmates maintain cleanliness according to established rules and regulations. A high school diploma or equivalency is required as well as the Alert Test at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, Maine Criminal Justice Academy Medical Form and Physical Fitness Test at Kennebec County. Successful candidates will attend an intensive 6-week training program.

If you are selected, Human Resources will contact you to set up an interview. You will need to bring the following documents with you:
- A copy of high school diploma or G.E.D.
- A copy of college degree (if applicable)
- A copy of military discharge DD Form 214 – Long Form (if applicable)
You will also need to know your Social Security Number.
A Physical Agility Test will be administered at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility as part of the hiring process. Once your application has been processed, you will be notified of the date and time of the agility test.
