Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Civil Engineer to join our London office. As part of the Civil Group, the Civil Engineer assists the planning, design and plan production for general civil engineering on a wide variety of projects which may include site civil design, rough & precise grading, dredging, drainage design, utility design (sewer, water, & storm drain).

  • Assist and supports designs construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models.
  • Assist the preparation of engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data.
  • Supports the analysis of project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs.
  • Creates feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.
  • Assist in the production of engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules.
  • Confirms adherence to construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress, inspecting construction site, and verifying calculations and placements.
  • Supports fulfills project requirements by training and guiding operators.
  • Researches and assists in complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains project database by writing computer programs, entering data, and completing backups.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • 1-2 years of experience as a civil engineer, preferably with experience in site layout, stormwater, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems Or Experience in Structures
  • AutoCAD proficiency
  • MicroStation, Civil3D, or SWMM proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Working conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
