Job description:

The Senior Technical Advisor supports our mission by identifying technical ways to test and improve the passenger experience using in-flight connectivity through the onboard WiFi platform. This role collaborates with various functional groups within the company, including customer experience, digital marketing, and technical services. The Senior Technical Officer is a good thinker and communicator who is excited by the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on a product that can touch every South West traveler.

Other details:

This job is offered as a remote work position, which may require travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Apart from these mandatory visits, most of your work time may be spent away from our office premises. Please note that although this is a remote area, there are small states or regions that are not eligible for employees to perform their regular duties. The states that are not eligible are: Alaska, Delaware, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Summary of duties

Team member responsible for identifying, planning, defining and implementing various business and technology focused initiatives. Analyze potential opportunities, assess the value of those opportunities, propose leadership priorities based on value, and identify potential solutions. Work with various business and technology clients to advise and influence the creation of strategic plans or initiatives. Establish yourself as a key advisor to your management team.

Work:

Translate customer needs through a deep understanding of customer priorities, value drivers and challenges
Drives solutions within the group/non-specialist group
Complete assigned tasks and deliver projects with minimal guidance
Collaborate with company leaders to lead various projects necessary for the ongoing development and implementation of strategic plans
Analyze the impact of issues, support decisions and escalate to management as necessary
Expect a lot of confusion in the field; including risks, dependencies, timelines, limits, etc. Identify complex issues and analyze relevant information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
May perform other duties as assigned by senior staff

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Knowledge of business principles and management including strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource management, leadership, production methods, and the organization of people and resources.
Understanding the principles and processes of providing customer and employee services, including assessing customer needs, meeting service quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
Ability to pay close attention to what others are saying, take time to understand the point being made, ask questions as needed, and not speak at inappropriate times.
The ability to use logic and reasoning to determine the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to a problem
The ability to understand the implications of new information for solving current and future problems and making decisions
Have good communication skills to communicate effectively
Ability to communicate information and ideas verbally or in writing so others can understand
The ability to say when something is wrong or could go wrong, which doesn’t involve fixing the problem, just acknowledging that there is a problem.
