- You will be joining a group of applied scientists in the Ads division who focus on experimentation, control systems, pricing, and auction bidding strategies. Applied scientists transform these realizations into statistical or predictive models that are used in production after conducting exploratory research and analysis. Although analyzing the data, carefully considering the system design, and identifying various network interactions require a lot of work, the business of Yelp will greatly benefit from these insights.
This is what you’ll do:.
- Develop testable hypotheses, identify challenging problems, take ownership of them, and produce significant business impact.
- Lead the development of causal and predictive models or the design and analysis of experiments to test your theories.
- Work with product and engineering to make any necessary changes to the production systems, and share your knowledge with other teams.
- Ensure that your conclusions are clear to audiences with and without technical knowledge.
- The team can stay current with new developments in ML and statistics by reading papers, attending conferences, and taking part in local events.

Success requires the following.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
- a degree in a quantitative field, such as physics, applied math, computer science, statistics, economics, etc.

- understanding of predictive modeling/machine learning, causal inference, or forecasting.
